Question about Global Talent Visa

I am a PostDoc at Harvard in Medical Imaging and AI. I am considering relocating to the UK. I have just started learning about visas and companies there. Should I start the process of the Global Talent Visa by myself (asked for UKRI endowment if I understand correctly) or wait until I get recruited in the UK? What are the pros and cons of each pathway?
