Titanfall vs. Call of Duty and what Respawn did right to advance the FPS category
I went with the PS4 this round and just got Titanfall on Xbox 360 this week. Wow, what a killer game. After putting Ghosts to bed lately, I'm having fun again and it feels good.
- Increased mobility - double jumping, wall running
- Player visibility - enemies are red, pilots are brighter and not hidden on the maps like monotone COD models
- Variety - pilots, spectres, titans, minions - there's something for everyone
- Burying stats - stats aren't front and center, your k/d is in a dashboard that you can obsess over but it's not the first thing you see in lobbies
- Spawns - the dropship is epic and i have yet to get spawn trapped
- Weapon variety - the smart pistol is actually innovative
- Perk balance - not much to say compared to COD, burn cards are awesome to boot
- No killstreaks - everyone gets a Titan and burn cards help to counter Titans
- ADS - it's fast and keeps the gameplay flowing - this is what I like the most about COD vs. Battlefield (don't get me wrong, I enjoy BF as well but I like the faster pace of COD and Titanfall)
- No going prone - I see so much less camping
- Generations - you actually have to make an effort to "prestige"
- Hit registration - it feels good and it feels fair
It feels like they actually listened to the FPS community. What else am I missing?
