Why was the main character’s name romanized as Gi-Hun and not Gi-Hoon?

Just a minor pet peeve, but I hear a lot of YouTubers saying Gi-Hun (rhymes with Key-Done) which is incorrect. His name should have been romanized as Gi-Hoon (rhymes with Key-Soon). I also think I heard some of them pronounce Gi with a soft G (it should be hard G).

Even if you don’t know Korean, you’ll hear that the second syllable of his name rhymes with “soon” whenever his name is mentioned with the original Korean dubbing. I haven’t heard the English dubbing, how is his name pronounced there?

Korean romanization is not as straightforward as Japanese romanization, but I think this was an example of one version of romanization (Gi-Hoon) working much better than the other (Gi-Hun) one.

Names like Sae-Byeok (“Sae” would be pronounced like the “ha” part of “happy”, the “Byeok” should be pronounced like “yuck” with a “b” at the front) and No-Eul (“No” would be pronounced like a sharp “no”, not a drawn out one, and… I have no idea how “Eul” would be pronounced for English speakers) are hard to romanize and hard for non-Korean speakers to pronounce. Maybe other Korean speakers can chime in here lol.
