Please stop telling me to rest before labor.

Instead, please start telling me how you can help me deal with my restless legs.

I am 36 weeks and I've been dealing with restless legs since week 20 or so, this week has been the WORSE week so far and nothing seems to be working.

I guess people noticed my deep bags under my eyes from complete lack of sleep and all they can think of saying is "omg you need to rest, labor is really hard ya know." Or the classic "sleep now cause when baby gets here you won't be able to!" Is it acceptable to tell them to shut up?

I am set for another sleepless night and I can't stop crying. I have done so much already under the guidance of my OB and nothing seems to be working anymore.

I've scanned this Reddit and found hundreds of old posts about restless legs and I feel a little less alone. Sadly I tried a lot of the shared tips already.

I tried:

  • Hot compress (they "activate" my nerves now)
  • Magnesium-rich fruits (Or fruits with vitamins that contributes to magnesium)
  • Exercise throughout the day
  • Squats (Yes I still can)
  • Tiring my legs before bed
  • Using my dog as weight (Kinda works but she doesn't stay long)
  • Deep stretches
  • Bath with epsom salt

What I found on Reddit was a lot of suggestions on magnesium oil. I haven't found any. They also suggested compression socks which I'll get tomorrow.

If you recognize yourself here and you may have something to suggest, please please comment. I really need relief and sleep.

I am only due to see my OB next week, which I will beg her to help me. I've read Magnesium supplements are good but to talk to your OB first before starting the supplements.

Right now, if I go into labor, I'm so scared to still be this exhausted that I won't be able to do it. I really don't want a c-section.

Thank you for reading my rant.
