USB Overcurrent Help?
Hi all, hoping to get some advice. I’m good with computers when they’re running fine, not so good with the actual builds and potential issues. Had a family friend build this for me 5 years ago now so I know it’s getting old. Over the course of the last year this issue has been getting worse.
Sort of randomly my screens will go dark, fans will run at Mach 3 and my pc will shut down. If i let it sit for a half hour it reboots fine and might be fine for a month, might be fine for 15 minutes before it happens again. If I reboot immediately after the crash I get this screen and can’t do anything about it.
I’ve unplugged any nonessential usb devices, I’ve plugged things back in one by one to see if I could find an issue, things are now running on an external usb hub instead of being in the various ports on the computer. Only things plugged in now are a mouse, keyboard and external drive. Replaced the power supply within the last 6 months. Have taken the casing apart and cleaned out dust and debris every few months.
At this point I wouldn’t be surprised if the motherboard IS fried, I had to push through issues and keep using it for work (mainly photoshop use), and can’t really afford to be building a new machine right now, but mostly just hoping to see if anyone has any potential solutions to try.
