Synopsis: Building on the rich legacy of its predecessor, Kingdom Come: Deliverance II transports players back to the early 15th century, immersing them in the tumultuous Kingdom of Bohemia—a region that was part of the Holy Roman Empire and is now modern-day Czech Republic. The sequel continues the gripping saga of Henry, the humble son of a blacksmith, as he finds himself thrust into the heart of a raging civil war. This time, Henry’s journey brings him face-to-face with the Holy Roman Emperor Sigismund and his allies, culminating in the dramatic conclusion to his tale.

One of the most striking enhancements in Kingdom Come: Deliverance II is its expansive game world, which doubles the size of the original. Instead of a single, interconnected map, the sequel introduces two vast, distinct, regions for players to explore. The first is the Bohemian Paradise, a breathtaking cultural landscape teeming with natural beauty and serene vistas. The second is the historically significant city of Kutná Hora (referred to as Kuttenberg in the game) and its surrounding areas. During the late Middle Ages, Kutná Hora was Bohemia’s second-largest city, after Prague, and a thriving economic powerhouse, fueled by its lucrative silver mines and its role in minting currency. This richly detailed setting promises to immerse players in a world of political intrigue, brutal conflict, and the everyday struggles of life in medieval Europe.

Gamer Escape - Grant Dotter - 10/10

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II picks up where the first game left off, with Henry thrust into another perilous journey after his village’s destruction. The game features an immersive, first-person RPG experience with a rich story, multiple ways to tackle quests, and realistic medieval details. Combat is refined, and players can now craft weapons. The graphics, voice acting, and music are top-notch. With over 150 hours of play, the game is a captivating historical adventure I highly recommend.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is a hilarious, crass, yet deeply engaging historical RPG. You play as Henry, an apprentice smith, navigating moral choices in an open world. The game allows for freedom—be a poacher, scholar, or rogue—while threading consequences into the story. The world-building is immersive, and the humor is distinctly Czech. While the game’s slow pace and difficult tasks may turn some away, it rewards patience and offers a rich, unique experience.

Dextero - Liam Mackay - 5/5

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 delivers a bigger, better medieval RPG. Picking up after the first game, Henry embarks on a quest for revenge, navigating an open world with meaningful choices. Combat is tough but rewarding, and the story explores the consequences of war. The game’s beautiful open world, deep sidequests, and improved mechanics create an immersive experience. While movement can be clunky and some quests slow the pace, it’s an engaging, must-play sequel for fans.

Gamereactor UK - Alex Hopley - 9/10

Kingdom Come: Deliverance II takes the series to new heights, refining its ambitious RPG mechanics. Henry’s quest for revenge is more immersive, with better visuals, improved combat, and a deep narrative. The open-world is expansive, offering engaging side quests, rich character progression, and meaningful choices. While the Saviour Schnapps mechanic and early-game frustrations may annoy, the game’s world-building, combat variety, and depth make it a standout RPG, setting a high bar for 2025.

Gamespot - Richard Wakeling - 9/10

In Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, your actions shape the world around you, offering an immersive RPG experience. Henry’s journey through Bohemia is enriched by deep character progression, from combat to speech, where every choice affects the outcome. With improved combat mechanics and a fleshed-out crime system, it blends medieval drama with engaging side quests. While its slow pace and tedious aspects may frustrate some, the game excels in world-building, player agency, and narrative depth, making it a standout RPG.

IGN - Leana Hafer - 9/10

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 captivated me with its skill-based combat and rich medieval narrative. Set in a stunningly detailed Bohemia, the game blends linear storytelling with a vast open world. The city of Kuttenberg feels alive, and quests are engaging, with memorable characters and unique objectives. While the game occasionally struggles to balance its sandbox and story-driven elements, the combat is refined, and the new perk system enhances progression. A beautifully optimized sequel worth every minute.

A few months ago, I didn’t expect to dive into Kingdom Come: Deliverance II with such enthusiasm, let alone consider it a contender for game of the year. After immersing myself in the first game, I jumped into this worthy sequel. After hours of play, I can confidently say that Kingdom Come II has reshaped my view of the RPG genre. Warhorse Studios proves that historical realism can enhance gameplay. With Baldur's Gate 3 already raising the bar, Kingdom Come II sets a high standard for upcoming titles. Let’s dive into the Middle Ages and see what Henry’s up to.

Hey Poor Player - Jonathan Trussler - 5/5

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 picks up where the first left off, with Henry, now a knight, losing everything after a brutal ambush. Starting from scratch, he embarks on a quest for vengeance while navigating political struggles. The combat is challenging, with a system that rewards timing and skill. The addition of blacksmithing, hunting, and a deep skill/perk system enriches gameplay. The immersive world, filled with memorable characters, side quests, and dynamic NPC interactions, offers countless hours of content. A medieval masterpiece.

Windows Central - Brendan Lowry - 5 / 5 stars

Given that I was a big fan of the original title, I went into Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 expecting to greatly enjoy the follow-up, too. Even so, I was thoroughly surprised by how perfect of a sequel it is, with Warhorse building on everything fans loved about KCD while simultaneously fixing its major story, combat, and performance issues. Between the immersive reactivity of its huge open world, countless varied quests to fill up your journal with, its engaging well-balanced combat, a gripping story, and immaculate presentation, it's got everything a Kingdom Come fan could want and more.

Gamingbolt - Matthew Carmosino - 9/10

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 still has that immersive realism the first had, but the small tweaks and refinements help make it a tad more accessible. But really, it’s the main quest that really demands attention here. It’s worth putting up with the lengthy load times and inconsistent save system to experience the sheer craft and excellence instilled within Henry’s final story. KCD2 will undoubtedly end up as many gamers’ favorite RPG of all time, and it’s easy to see why. I don’t yet know where it stands among my all-time favorite open-world games, but the very fact that I’m undecided showcases just what a phenomenal game Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is.

Game Rant - Josh Cotts - 10/10

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 returns players to the historically accurate world of medieval Bohemia with improved visuals, refined gameplay, and a gripping narrative. The game emphasizes realism, offering deep player agency with consequences for every action. The protagonist, Henry, remains an ordinary character, which enhances the world’s immersion. The open world is alive with dynamic NPC interactions, and side quests add depth. Although more accessible, KCD2 retains its challenging, rewarding RPG experience.

Shacknews - Sam Chandler - 9/10

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 immerses players in 14th-century Bohemia with a gripping RPG experience. The game offers a richly detailed world, dynamic side quests, and an engrossing main narrative, but is marred by technical issues like odd animations, graphical popping, and an infuriating save system. Combat is challenging but rewarding, and the attention to detail in systems like crafting and blacksmithing adds depth. Despite its flaws, the game provides a unique, memorable experience in an open-world medieval setting.

PC Gamer - Joshua Wolens - 90 / 100

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is a highly specific RPG set in 1403 Bohemia, focusing on detailed, historical accuracy. Its combat is complex, requiring careful positioning, and its world operates with rules that feel independent of the player. The game offers a deep narrative, intricate systems like alchemy and blacksmithing, and moral choices with significant impact. With a variety of activities, a vast map, and an engaging plot, KCD2 delivers a rich, immersive experience that appeals to fans of classic RPGs like Morrowind and Stalker.

Fextralife - Castielle - 9/10

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 delivers a captivating RPG experience with its rich story, compelling main quests, and immersive medieval setting. Set in 1400s Bohemia, the game follows Henry's quest for revenge and survival amidst war. While combat remains a weak point, the game excels in storytelling, humor, and complex decision-making. Side quests are varied and engaging, though some are repetitive. With great voice acting, music, and a realistic world, it's an unforgettable experience, despite occasional bugs and performance issues.

Eurogamer - Katharine Castle - 3 / 5 stars

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith-turned-squire, who starts fresh after a botched peace mission. The game has a slow, methodical RPG style, focusing on skill-building through repetition and attention to character interactions. While it features detailed sidequests, the game's reliance on dense menus and opaque skill checks can feel frustrating. Combat is underwhelming, with clunky mechanics, and the game’s overall pace can feel sluggish. Despite these issues, its immersive world and surprising moments still offer value for dedicated players.

DualShockers - Callum Marshall - 10/10

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 is an unapologetically unique RPG that takes everything that was great about the original and takes it to the Nth degree. It's a cinematic, historically charged epic with a sublime open world to explore, a depth of systems to master, a wealth of meticulously designed quests to complete, and a sandbox survival format that makes simply existing in this world a satisfying and rewarding experience. Some minor issues carry over from the past campaign, and it still remains a game that will alienate more casual players. But all in all, this is a monumental RPG in terms of scope, scale, and quality. I used to long for an Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion remake. But now, I feel sated by the Bohemian masterpiece War Horse has created.
