Help me save my father’s life: He needs a kidney transplant urgently.

Hello, r/indianmedschool. My father, Ramkrishna Yadav, is a 44-year-old working in private sector who has been suffering from chronic kidney disease (CKD) stage 5 for the last 5 months. He needs a kidney transplant as soon as possible.

My father was diagnosed with CKD stage 5 suddenly with no medical history of BP, sugar, or any other disease. He was healthy and hearty until then. We don’t know what caused his kidneys to fail so rapidly. He has been undergoing regular tests and treatments at a private hospital, but his condition is deteriorating day by day. He is going to start dialysis next week, but that is only a temporary solution. He needs a kidney transplant to live a normal life again.

We are planning for a kidney transplant at Bombay Hospital, where we have found a reputed and experienced surgeon. The estimated cost of the transplant is 9.06 lakhs, which includes the surgery, hospitalization, medication, post-operative care, and follow-up visits. We have arranged 2 lacs till now, but we are still short of 7.06 lakhs. We are looking for some trusts and NGOs that can help us with the funds, but it will take time and there is no guarantee that we will get the assistance we need. Our health insurance is also of 4 lacs and doc has told to only use it for post transplant medications. The doctor has told us to plan the transplant on an urgent basis, as any delay can be fatal for my father.

My grandmother has kindly agreed to be the donor for my father. She is 60 years old, but she is healthy and fit for her age. She loves my father very much and wants to see him happy and well again. She has undergone some preliminary tests at the hospital, but the final tests for the donor are still pending. We are praying that she will be compatible with my father and that there will be no complications during or after the surgery.
