State and local gov folks - heads in the sand?!?
Hello my fellow public servants - first off, I am crushed and shaken to see these post streaming in about these absurd massive layoffs happening for fed probies. It’s beyond sick. I work at the county level in human services, and It feels like most of my colleagues have their heads buried in the sand. For reference, my dept is almost entirely Medicaid funded (waivers) and I truly do not know what will happen if the fed funding is cut. It’s dystopian. I feel like the violin players on the titanic while the ship is sinking. I’m bringing up my concerns to any one who will listen (union, coworkers etc) , but most people’s heads are buried in the sand, and it’s business as usual.
Am I correct in my fears?!? I feel crazy for being so worried when so many in my agency seem completely unfazed
