DSLR not allowed in Dubai??

Hi, I am traveling to Dubai and planning to take my DSLR with me? Is it for forbidden to take photos of my family in venues like Dubai fountain and Burj Khalifa? I read posts about how security guards will stop you from using DSLRs?
