Anyone have experience restoring a Mercedes Benz 280 SL?

Hey! I have been in possession of a 1968 Mercedes Benz 280 SL for a few years now. Since it's winter and we're all quarantining, I've found some extra time to research and decide what my next steps will be. Are they pricey to fix up? What are some common issues people have when restoring these or other SL models? Do people buy these in project condition? My car was running three or so years ago, but I've not turned the key since. It should need some basic maintenance and a battery but that is TBD. Also still need to get under to check for rust. Any info, tips, stories are welcome!
