Rusty's Health Update
I know many of you probably saw my previous post about Rusty (large orange cat at the back) having drooling fits that really scare him.
I wanted to post an update due to the sheer number of people who requested one. Since my post, he has had a drooling episode three more times. Each time less than the last - which is a great sign.
His vet appointment went well, we were told he was one of the most well behaved cats they had ever seen. He had bloodwork done and was inspected and told he was perfectly healthy aside from the drooling fits which the vet was able to narrow down to a few of the following.
Epilepsy. He said this is quite uncommon in cats and it is highly unlikely that this is what is affecting Rusty as typically they would show a few more symptoms than he is showing.
He injested something potentially toxic. The vet said this was the most likely reason, considering the fact that the amount of drooling has lessened meaning he would have flushed some of the toxins out. This is also what we currently believe as he has a bad habit of trying to drink out of the toilet and could have drank out of it after it was cleaned.
Liver Shunt. The vet said that this could also be causing it and it may be likely as well due to the fact that Rusty is on the smaller side. He said that he appears perfectly healthy and is a good weight for his size but he is not quite at the length or height that most cats are at his age 1 year and 9 months.
We are eagerly awaiting bloodwork that can either confitm or rule-out some of the above mentioned afflictions. Thank you for all your support and kind words!
