Unpopular Opinion: I don't care for Askin

And it's his powers I don't like.

Look, I get why other people like him and I'm not trying to change anyone's mind here. He's well written. He's got charisma. He played an important role in the story. But his ability just bothers me.

I just don't like abilities where it's just the user going "now it's twice as strong", "now it's Max strength" "watch out, now it's at maximum turbo overdrive super mode" as nauseum. Its telling not showing. Its trying to raise stakes that don't need to be raised. Poison is already deadly, there's no reason to make it double deadly.

Honestly it starts to feel like school kids playing pretend. "Nuh uh I actually had my invincibility shield" "Now I have turbo poison times Infinity" "now I have infinity plus one"

All this is doubly annoying because the other side of the fight had some of the hypest shit I ever saw. Yoruichi' brother having hands, Yoruichi's new form, Urahara Banki(!), GRIMJOW (!!!). And it's annoying that all off those except the last one are countered by him going, "now my invisible power is actually stronger so I win"

I just don't care for it.
