Pediatrician said 4mo old drinking 32-40 oz/day of breastmilk is fine?

My LO just went in for his 4 month check up and I raised the question of how he always seems hungry. From the AAP, I know for breast milk babies, 24-32oz a day is normal and typically shouldn't go over 32oz. My LO has consistently been taking more and more BM, often 30+oz per day, to the point we're back to supplementing with formula because I just can't produce more than 28oz/day. He's 47th percentile for weight, adjusted for his prematurity, for context.

I brought it up with his doctor as he already sits with minimal assistance and shows interest in food. I asked if we could start him on rice cereal or purees or something to supplement. She said she only recommends it if the baby is super chubby and taking more than 40+oz/day! I understand the whole purees thing is to get them used to different tastes and textures more than nutrition, but why not the rice cereal? Not in the bottle of course.

IDK, it just felt like a very dismissive answer instead of providing a solution and I've also never heard a doc say 40oz/day at 4mo is okay!

Anyone else have this problem? I'm considering switching peds at this point because it isn't the first time I've felt my concerns were just waved off.

EDIT: thank you all for the assurance my little guy is doing doing just fine. Just clarifying, I wasn't trying to say I wanted to hold any milk back from my baby, that's just cruel. Just saw that a lot of moms I know got the green light for purees at 4 months and was confused why my pediatrician didn't seem at all open. Also, the rice cereal option is just something that I grew up with in the 2000s, but I realize times have changed and it's not recommend anymore.

I'll keep giving my baby as much BM as he wants and formula if he's still hungry!
