Do women with autism have an easier time finding dates than men with autism?
I just want to ask this bluntly because it‘s a phenomenon that we don’t often give attention to.
I have noticed this trend though. Women with autism seem to be more likely to build romantic relationships than men with autism are. From observation online, it looks like it’s somewhat common for these relationships to require lots of masking, which I understand is not good. This probably leads to different psychological impacts between the genders, with girls learning they need to mask, while boys learn that they just have to deal with loneliness and isolation as a part of life, both of which are hard pills to swallow.
I’ve also always been interested in social dynamics and I’m curious what dynamics lead to this trend.
