My therapist never showed for our session yesterday, which is not normal - what to do?
UPDATE: I received an email from a psychotherapist saying that my now former therapist won’t be providing any more sessions and won’t be returning to “her position at [practice name] Counseling.” I have no idea what this even means; I asked if there was some more context she could disclose for better closure, but that I understand if she can’t. That’s all I got for now.
EDIT: my therapist hasn’t communicated with me since our last session almost two weeks ago. At this point, I’m wondering if she could be hospitalized, or worse. I’ll continue to update
I’ve been seeing my therapist weekly for three years and she has never done this before. And if she does miss a session, she’s usually super vigilant about it, either by emailing her clients in advance sometimes by a month - even if it’s a last minute emergency, she will ALWAYS send a message so I know she won’t be there and will reschedule later.
So when she never showed yesterday, I obviously checked my emails, any messages, missing phone calls, voicemails - nothing.
I messaged her twice yesterday while I was waiting for our session to start; first to be like, hey did I miss an email or message from you about rescheduling this? Then another 20 minutes in to say, ok I’m leaving the zoom meeting and I hope to hear from you soon. Nothing again.
But what really got me worried was this morning, the autopay for the session charged me. I was like… ok that’s not normal, she would’ve checked that. It going through like that means she hadn’t checked, as far as past patterns tell me.
I don’t know what to do. I’m super worried something bad happened because this isn’t like her to do intentionally or even by mistake. I’m specifically asking any therapists what I should do in this situation 😟
