Am I wrong for thinking that creativity is becoming more and more discouraged in schools?

I am sure we have all heard of the metaphor that public schools are like a factory that trains workers to work on an assembly line. I feel like increasingly the public school system does the same with teachers by rigidly forcing them to adhere to a mundane curriculum that often focuses more on memorizing than understanding and finding creative solutions to problems. This is why most behavior issues exist- students are meant to explore not sit at a desk for 8 hours a day. Am I crazy for thinking for thinking this? What are people’s thoughts?
