Legal ties to section corners

Anyone have thoughts on ties to section corners that don't follow a section line. Something like "Commencing at the Northeast corner of section 25, thence South 65°48'32" West a distance of 1590.00 feet to the point of beginning." This seems like bad practice to me. Does anyone have an opinion? Thanks
