Constellations new daily driver, “Endurance”
The Endurance was commissioned by MAST of all groups to say “We know you have your choice of universe, thanks for choosing ours”
An unprecedented build request was sent throughout the settle systems to the creme de la crème of shipwrights. It pleaded with them to step forward and submit their concepts for a strategic and stylish shuttle, tailored as a gift of gratitude in place of “thanks” that will never be said by a public who doesn’t know what horrors they were saved from.
Senior design executives from each of the major starship manufacturers were sent to New Atlantis, in answer to the call to action. Truly forging alliances thru the simplest common ground amongst the technicians, they began to lose sight of their cultural hang ups and neuroses, and were reminded once again of the love for ship-building and the joys of piloting your very own vessel.
What’s the most important aspect of a spacecraft? they pondered. The engines? The hull? The shields? Is it the functionality? The form? Is it the speed and maneuverability? Or is it the strength of the weapons and defense systems? * Wrong , it’s the pilot.* chimed in Barrett, nonchalantly from some corner.
With that in mind, the engineers decided to look back at Payce’s career and use all of his recorded (and classified) efforts to set a new standard for their parameters. Bursting out of the stables strong, the innovation begins right at the fore of the craft with HopeTech’s finest engineers updated landing bay, designed solely to remove the ladder—something Payce never enjoyed in their craft. who wants to climb a ladder in the middle of the night after kickin back a few cold ones w the crew? The updated “XL Landing bay” starts strong, and leads the way right thru the garage-style door into more great advances as the bay opens into an OwlTech armory, maximizing luxury and organization while providing the perfect way to unwind after a mission (or to build up the adrenaline before some of the more daunting tasks) who else loves admiring their loot and losing themselves in nostalgia?
The craft’s sole ladder leads from the armory and into Stroud/Eklund’s Kon-Tiki cockpit, providing ample space for four crew/passengers, a navigation table and, of course, Captain Payce. Sporting twin engines that were pulled from a downed, exotic-class, fighter ship and retrofitted to this design, The Endurance has put itself in a new field of maneuverability within its minimal package. Equipped with two sets of c-class turrets (one set of ballistic and one laser) and four c-class missile launchers ensures whether Khold and his crew are sat around the campfire or trading lead and paint amongst the stars, this Captain never has to worry about the safety of his crew. To that end, what kind of engineers would they be if they didn’t handcraft a one-of-a-kind system to maximize the ship’s utilization of reactor power, grav drive thrust and shield strength, as just one more way to say “Stay safe out there, space cowboy.”
The Captain recently was spotted in New Atlantis working on some of his own spacecraft, touring a few of the local residences, perusing the commercial district for new attire and gear, and chatting it up at with some brooding character in the Viewport before reconvening with his contacts in the Vanguard and SysDef. Word suggests the Captain is making his return to Constellation, as he’s been repeatedly seen returning to The Lodge throughout the past few weeks. MAST hopes to confirm with Constellation soon and make delivery of a truly extraordinary spacecraft.
