Satisfyer A-Mazing 2 Review
Recently I took a chance on the Satisfyer A-Mazing 2 vibrator and I thought I'd share my thoughts as it's fairly new and I couldn't find a lot of other reviews out there.
My first impression was 'wow, it's big!'. (This was quickly overshadowed by the Double Wander that I also ordered. That thing is SO BIG AND HEAVY that my actual thought when picking up for the first time was 'I could kill a man with this!')
The website had measurements but it was not clear to me exactly what they meant by 'breadth' and 'height' compared to length. It also didn't specify how long the insertable portion is. I measured the following dimensions:
- Whole toy from the bottom of the ring handle to the top of the A-spot nub: 220-221 mm as advertised
- Insertable portion (from the silver edge of the ABS part of the handle up to the tip when measured from the front): 150 mm, so just shy of 6"
In terms of girth, the shaft is elliptical rather than round, hence the two different measurements on the site. It's wider going from ventral to dorsal or front to back than side to side.
- Circumference: 130 mm/5"
- Depth (going from 'front' to 'back'): 45 mm
- Width (going side to side when looking at it with the buttons facing up): 40 mm
I do not know where they are getting 63 mm from on the website - even the widest part of the handle measures less than 60 cm to me. That said, the depth of the G-spot section means it takes a little more effort to insert than a slimmer toy.
The A-spot tip is about 30 mm long, 20 mm wide and 55 cm in circumference, and fairly round.
What I love:
- The silicone is pretty soft and silky, and has a bit of squish to it, at least in places where it is not thinly layered over hard mechanical parts. The A-spot tip is flexible and bendy although it does not have any kind of wire frame to it to 'fix' the bend in place.
- The motor feels quite powerful to me, and rumbly. Rumble is hard to judge; it's probably not as 'thuddy' as the We-Vibe Tango X, but it's not buzzy either. I think one of the motors sits lower in the shaft which means that it gives a nice bit of vibration at the bottom around the vaginal entrance. This is one of my 'sweet spots' so I'm enjoying that a lot.
- It feels nice externally too - the A-spot tip is like a soft little finger, and the main body of it gives some broader stimulation. The depth/height of the shaft also provides more sensation on the back wall than I'm used to.
- The gentle texture on the shaft is nice - texture is new for me so I don't have a lot to compare it to, but I don't find it super noticeable or uncomfortable. (The A-Mazing 1 is smooth, for comparison; I think that's the only real difference.)
- I normally find patterns more annoying than pleasant, and only tend to use them if I'm starting to feel a little numb and need a break. A few of the patterns on the A-Mazing, though, I really enjoy, even more than the straight speeds.
- The ring handle is comfortable and makes it easy to hold and to tell which way round it is.
- It's waterproof, so easy cleaning (do watch out for the buttons and the logo though - they catch lube).
- I picked the blue colour option and it's a lovely shade of bright turquoise.
- The price - with 35% off direct from the website, it was only £29.22. For the price, the quality (silicone, rechargeable, 15-year warranty) feels great.
What's 'Hmm...'
- I'm honestly not sure if I'm feeling the A-spot tip at all, except when I insert it far enough to hit the top of my vagina. Making it so much smaller and slimmer makes sense given that a lot of people find cervical contact uncomfortable, and it takes time for the AFE zone to expand. Compared to, say, my dildo, however, I'm a lot less aware of the tip on the A-Mazing. The strong pressure and vibrations from the G-spot section also tend to grab my attention more, so to speak. And that part is great, so I can't really complain! For people who have more experience and understanding of their body, though, they might find the A-spot part redundant.
- I have always been under the impression that I don't really 'have' a G-spot, and that the sensitive front wall spot I like was the A-spot. I thought it was too far in to be G, and doesn't have that 'need to pee' sensation associated with the G-spot. A few months ago I got a Je Joue Uma and the curve and bulbous head on that made me reconsider - maybe I had both? Having now tried a toy specifically aimed at the A-spot - but also having a large, curved section which seems designed for the G-spot - I am less sure than ever what the hell is going on in there.
- The controls:
- The A-Mazing has 3 buttons. The middle button is the power button, and then it has an up and down button, marked with concentric circles. However, the 5 static speeds and 7 patterns are all linked in a chain to the up and down buttons, and they don't loop. It starts on the lowest static speed (and does not have a memory function for last pattern, that I've found.) As you press the 'increase' button (the one nearest the bottom of the handle), the vibration increases through the other static levels, and then moves into the patterns. When you get to #12, pressing that same button won't do anything; you have to use the top button to go back through the patterns and then the speeds. Same at the other end; when you're on the lowest speed, the 'decrease' button doesn't do anything.
- I'm on the fence about this. Being able to go back and forth or toggle speed up and down is good, but if you're on a pattern and want to go back to a static speed, you might have to do a fair bit of button-pressing. The buttons themselves are easy enough to press, however, and I haven't pressed them accidentally yet thanks to the ring handle.
- No storage pouch or box is included, but given the price point this is not overly surprising.
What I hate:
- The charger. The magnetic dots on the toy are tiny, and the nodes on the cable are rounded. I don't know if this is meant to keep it connected even if it tilts, but in practice, it does not. The magnets are not strong enough to keep the cable in place even if it's just lying on one side on the bedside table. The only way I've been able to keep it connected and charging is to lean the toy buttons up with the handle end raised up higher, and the cable running more or less on top of the toy. The magnetic end of the cable still tilts, but somehow it keeps connection. No other configuration works. When I look at how beautifully the Uma's charger clicks into place and holds, the Satisfyer cable's terribleness makes me want to rage. Do better, Satisfyer.
Final notes: Although I ordered from the Satisfyer UK site, the parcel shipped from Germany and the returns form is in German. This isn't a massive issue, and I was not charged anything extra in shipping or customs fees, but potentially useful to know. I also read through Satisfyer's 100-day guarantee policy (seperate from the 15-year warranty) and thought that I would be able to return the toy if I didn't like it. The exemptions they mention are condoms, lube, and single-use items. However, having now looked at their FAQ, nothing can be returned or exchanged (unless faulty) once the hygiene seal has been broken. Since there is no way to test the toys without opening the seal, I may now be stuck with an enormous wand that I don't use much. (It's good, but turns out there is such a thing as 'too broad' for me. At least I have a handy mace if I ever get an intruder in the house?)
TLDR: Nice motor, nice rumbles, nice texture, nice size, nice price, terrible charger.
