Any Advice for getting Griefed?

Soooo uh, any advice fellow sailors, for getting griefed? I was having an awesome time with the game, until we came into a port, and were immediately griefed.

Killed upon spawning. We didn’t even have loot worth it. A few supply crates. Really sad seeing players act like that. Just pathetic honestly. Probably all too common, but just hoping for some friendly advice for a noob.
