Diamonds and Dollars is JAY-Z's BBC (the song)
DRY SZN baseless speculation days:
BBC (Billionaire Boys Club - Pharrells clothing line) is the Hov song off Magna Carta with Nas, Justin Timberlake, Béyonce, Timbo, Swizz, Nigo and Pharrell.
They made it in one night after a party to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the BBC line, cause everyone on the song is an investor in it. Hov said it would "offensive to not record a song to celebrate that night"
Diamonds and Dollars is a lost 2009 Ye x Pharrell song intended for either GAJ, God Unwilling (the scrapped CRS album) or some Pharrell project. It was likely meant to tie-in with the Diamonds and Dollars collab Pharrell did with Adidas at the time.
All we have is this 15-second MusicMafia snippet along with a Summer Jam Kanye freestyle that might be for the song and another 2-second low quality snippet that also might be the song.
____
Now, here's where the theory starts:
- Both songs have prevalent use of a cowbell that sounds almost identical between the 2 songs, as if its only pitched and sped up a little bit for BBC.
- Both songs are tie in to some sort of fashion line - BBC and Diamonds and Dollars
- Both songs seem pretty celebratory in nature - probably to commemorate the success of the two brands.
So, knowing that Pharrell really only had one night to make the song, what would stop him from just grabbing an old beat he did with Kanye about the same topic (celebrating something fashion-related) and speeding + pitching it up to get it to fit the song?
Fuck.
