Timber supplier for woodworking

Are there any hobby woodworkers here that know of a good local supplier of timber suitable for furniture and other projects? Most timber suppliers I can find only cater to the building industry so don't have anything more exotic or out of the ordinary. Specifically looking for European Beech or a similar timber.
