Question about stupid insurance… and a hysterectomy

TW………. Talks about AGAB private parts

So my very sweet and nice OBGYN who is not well versed in trans care is doing her best to help me get my hysterectomy done… our barrier seems to be the insurance company, I have United Healthcare and I live in Texas… she is 1000% on board to do the surgery, I have a recorded history of having horrible cramps during aunt flo’s visit then currently after starting T about an year ago now going on 2 years (next month actually) I have been getting similar type cramps when having sex. It doesn’t matter if it external stimulation or penetration stimulation. Went to the OBGYN and she checked everything and she said that she cannot see anything that could be causing it. All internal bits all look normal and show no signs of atrophy, no tumors, cyst etc… but she did tell me that at my age and me still not wanting kids at this point she would do the surgery no questions asked as long as insurance approved it… I asked her if when she submitted the paperwork if she could also put on there that it was for gender affirming care in addition to what she wanted to put in… so she submitted it with both she stuff and what I asked her to add to it… now she said it got rejected and sent me all the reasons… now I preface this by saying I want to get Phallo in a year or 2 from now so I just thought I could get this part done earlier to save some money as my deductible is met.

So the rejection letter they sent me says that for the gender affirming care I need 2 docs who specializes in Gender Dysphoria, I must have been living as a man for a year and also been on hormones for the same time…

This just seems like a bit much considering it’s basically the same criteria for getting bottom surgery… now I could understand all of this if I was say 22, but I’m freaking 43 years old… if I want something gone from my body I feel as tho it should not be this damn hard to get done… bonus to this I guess is I can go ahead and schedule my bottom consultation and use both those letters for that LOL

Guess I’m just wondering if this seems a bit much, or if this sounds about right… what has others experience been with trying to get the same surgery done with insurance…
