Just started Uni, need advice

Hi, I’ve just started Uni and am trying to get into cooking, what are some good recipes I could try (I am a beginner and have barely held a knife before starting uni) as I currently live off of pasta. Also what are some good utensils to buy to help me cook better quality meals?
