Christian questions

I been going to church for a couple of months and I love God . I want to get closer to him but there are time I don’t understand church . I’m Pentecostal, for the life of me I can’t understand tongues . My mom speaks it ahd every new month it changes . It sounds so weird ahd makes me uncomfortable. I don’t understand what people jumping in the spirit . It genuinely looks like madness on the outside looking In . I’ve felt Gods presence in prayer ahd also had heard his voice . In movies ahd deprecations of God he is a calm spirit . His works don’t involve grand theatrics . Can someone explain to me tongues & getting in the spirit. Thank you
