Finished Live Oak Bow
So I finished my 50 inch Live Oak Short Bow that I’ve been working on. After fire hardening the belly last night I brought it from 23lbs to just under 30lbs at a 24 inch draw. I was intending on this being a deer hunting bow, but at this point I would only use it for small game such as rabbits. I took a bit too much off the belly for it to be my deer hunter, but it was a great success because I realize this wood is damn good and it’s all around me. Barely took any set being such a short bow and pretty high poundage for being such a thin bow (apparently it’s a bit harder than Osage and some say it’s similar in some ways). Now I know I can get a longer stave and really take my time and make a legit deer hunting bow.
