Looking for RPGs with Player Freedom, Tough Choices, and Immersive Worlds (No Hardcore Turn-Based/Tactical Combat!)
I’m looking for RPG recommendations that scratch the same itch as games like Dragon Age: Origins, Fallout: New Vegas, The Elder Scrolls series, Cyberpunk 2077, KOTOR, Mass Effect, Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines, and Deus Ex. The common thread I love about these games is the high degree of player freedom, impactful choices, and morally gray decision-making that can seriously alter the world, story, or NPCs around you.
My main criteria:
- Strong narrative with deep role-playing elements
- Meaningful choices that actually matter
- Exploration-heavy, immersive worlds
- Reactive NPCs and world-building
- Preferably real-time or action-based combat (no hardcore turn-based/tactical RPGs)
I’m open to both AAA and indie recommendations, older or newer games. Any hidden gems out there that fit the bill? Let me know what you suggest! Thanks!
